1980-1982 production years of this generation
1981 The eighth generation of the Thunderbird model, produced between 1980 and 1982, is referred to as "Box Birds". The model was once again downsized. Coupé and Landau bodies were available. All model years of this generation have hidden headlights, with decorations being a stylistic extension of the position lamps on the fenders. A simple checkered 8x6 grille. The rear lamp for the full width of the car is tapered at the top in the middle. The '81 model has the following appearance features: - grille pattern on the bumper present in the previous model year disappears, - simulated convetible top available for the coupe, - another option available from this year is a door unlocking system with five buttons at the driver side window,
1982 The end of production of the eighth-generation Thunderbird. The '82 was unchanged from the '81.
