1955-1957 production years of this generation
1957 The first generation of the Thunderbird model, produced between 1955 and 1957, is referred to as the "Classic Birds". The only body version available was a two-seat convetible with removable hardtop. All three model years have single round headlights on the corners of the fenders and single round rear lamps under pointy "fins". The '57 model has the following appearance features: - front bumper lowered in the middle, guards much smaller than in previous years, - larger rear "fins", set at an angle of about 45 degrees, - round rear lamps under inclined "fins" are larger than before, - revised rear bumper with integrated exhausts on the corners under the rear lamps, - hardtop has additional round window in this year, - spare wheel went back into the trunk, Common features with '56 model: - vent flap on the left fender,
